Dear ESCRS 2025 Congress community, a heartfelt thank you for joining us in Copenhagen!
What an incredible week we shared in Copenhagen! On behalf of the ESCRS, thank you for making the 43rd Congress such a vibrant and memorable gathering. Your energy, curiosity, and commitment to advancing ophthalmology were felt in every session, every conversation, and every connection made.
This year, the Bella Center welcomed over 15,300 participants from 138 countries, including more than 8,000 doctors, 1,000 nurses and technicians, and 5,600 industry colleagues. The diversity and scale of our community continue to inspire us, and it’s your engagement that transforms these numbers into meaningful progress for our field.
Across five packed days, we explored the latest in cataract and refractive surgery through 406 sessions, 99 surgical skills labs, 111 instructional courses, and a wealth of free papers, posters, and videos. The scientific exchange was as dynamic as ever, with new formats like the Arena Valhalla debates, World Café roundtables, and the ESCRS iNovation® Day 2025 bringing fresh perspectives and lively discussion.
We’re especially proud of the collaborative spirit that defined this year’s Congress – whether you contributed as a speaker, moderator, presenter, sponsor, exhibitor, or attendee, your expertise and enthusiasm made all the difference. Thank you for helping us foster an inclusive, forward-thinking environment, and for supporting our ongoing #MissionZero sustainability efforts.
If you registered for the Congress, don’t forget that you can revisit sessions and catch up on anything you missed via the virtual platform until 15 October 2025. Take a look back at some of the best moments by visiting the ESCRS social media pages for photos and highlights.
This year’s BoSS Programme in Copenhagen championed diversity, leadership, and mentorship in ophthalmology. Delegates enjoyed dedicated symposia on well-being and workforce sustainability, hands-on workshops addressing unconscious bias, and speed mentoring sessions. The initiative also expanded support for families and promoted inclusivity through networking and leadership events.
ESCRS 2025 further marked three decades since the introduction of femtosecond laser technology in ophthalmic surgery. The Congress featured a special anniversary exhibition, interactive displays, and sessions with pioneers in the field, celebrating the evolution and impact of femtosecond lasers on cataract, corneal, and refractive surgery.
We hope you enjoyed discovering Copenhagen and connecting with colleagues old and new. Your participation is what makes the ESCRS community so special, and we look forward to welcoming you again at our upcoming events.
See you in Helsinki in March 2026 for the Winter Meeting, and in London for the Annual Congress in September!
With heartfelt thanks,
